Progress is being made ...

It's been three days since I received my sock yarn and I feel like I'm getting somewhere. I haven't had any large blocks of time to work on it, but it's still satisfying to see that there will be a pair of socks one day!

From some of the other knitters, I've seen some cool "pooling" of colors. Specifically, here's the first one I saw with cool "teeth" and "points". My socks, on the other hand, are looking more like ordinary "self-striping" yarns.

I'm trying to keep a positive attitude and convince myself that this color pattern is cooler than everyone else's - and also that things may be very different with the second sock! Others have advised to rewind the ball in the opposite direction (that would pose a problem with the twist of the yarn) and heck - I don't WANT to rewind the ball! It looks so good ...

Nope - I'll march on. I'll knit on (and purl on and W&T on) and see how the sock comes out. I expect to finish one of the two w/in the next day or so. Tomorrow's a vacation day from work and I'm looking forward to some concentrated knitting. It is therapy, after all.

Yes! Yours is definitely cool! I hope my sock comes out that way - er, once I get around to starting it.

Hey there. I have tried 3 times to post this comment. Old blogger stuff does not work any more.

Anyhow, our socks look exactly alike. Mine is not pooling nor feathering, but rather striping much like yours. There may be a very negligible difference on the width of the stripes, but so close it's not worth mentioning. I did the toe on 1 and doing the foot on 0. I will have a problem - need a deep instep, so I need to figure that out, but assuredly, it seems that there won't be enough yarn so I will have to shorten the cuff. I will keep weighing the sock and as I approach 1/2 of total weight, I will bind off.

Take care

My sock is also striping and I have found this to be the case with STR yarn, sometimes the two socks do different things and it is really fun!

My guess is with so much yarn to dye they didn't get these exactly alike. I am curious about it. I just got my yarn yesterday and was really disappointed to have to try a toe up sock first. :-( Never been able to figure one out but I am going to try. Also...what is up with the HUGE binder?? They are only sending a amall number of pages right? It said 2007 on it so I am assuming you get a new one each year? I would rather have a thinner say 1/2" binder for only 6 patterns. Now I sound like a nag...I think I am grumpy from waiting sooooo long. It is a big club, I have to learn patience. :-)

Heehee! You referred back to MY sock! Wow, I'm honored. But, you know, I love what your sock is doing, too. And knowing my luck, my second sock will look like yours and not my first sock (I'm only beginning the foot right now). I guess that is the beauty for handknit socks made from handdyed yarn!
